Public Display of Affection

  1. Good grief, how did so many ladybirds appear in one place?Explanation required! Was it the annual ladybird reunion? Had they heard there were some particularly juicy insects in this very spot? Were floodwaters lapping round the bottom of the rock?

  2. It's my local village pub in Wales.

No, it was in Muir Woods in California. I don't know how they made them stay in one place like that.

  3. For a briefly horrific moment I thought that was a huge macro shot and misread the title as 'Pubic Display of Affection'.

  11. Where I live (central/northern California) we get swarms of ladybugs like that pretty often. Its like they just pick a spot and all congregate for a Love Fest, thousands of them. When I was young I would put them in jars and then release them on my mom's plants so they would eat the aphids. Lovely photo Annie!
