Dear Diary, August 2007

I think I might be an Americanophile, although this word isn't even in the dictionary because almost nobody is one except me. Which isn't fair really, is it, when you consider that almost nobody is 'genuphobic' either and yet they made a word for that. But when Barack Obama gets elected next year, all of a sudden America will be highly fashionable again. English popstars will write affectionate songs about it like they did in the eighties, and an extra word will be added to dictionaries across the globe.

  1. I think I'm one too and I think that from now on (or at the very least for the next four years) it's not going to be anything to be ashamed of.

  2. hey annie, i've been an americanophile all my life! even when it was hugely unpopular for the last 8 years, and i had to constantly defend it from the anti-american lobby that was my group of friends. despite it's president n all, i have always had the love for its vast skies, and rolling prairies, azure oceans, the magnitude of it, the people, the food and the ideals of hope, freedom and opportunity. loving your road-trip. it's something I've always wanted to do
