Thank you. That middle shot is in the Icelandic highlands — I didn't desaturate the landscape colours, the sand just really is that black. The giraffes are in Cork (seriously) and the statue is in Venice.
And just for the record, EVERYONE in Iceland wears those jumpers. Honest.
Dammit - I've got the jumper now, and I've been practicing your 'far away, end of the world' look, but I can't find the right background here, everything is too green.
Annie> it's really good to see you coming through the light at the end of the tunnel. U will have some uncomfortable flash-backs, but the grass is looking greener and the sky a deeper blissful blue for you. Hopefully you are or soon will feel appreciated at work.
Thanks everybody. Except Anonymous who is clearly bonkers.
RP: good to see you, too! Despite the coffins.
Krummi, it was taken near the mountain hut at Hvangill, in the highlands. Very similar to Myrdalssandur though, yeah. Do you know that old aeroplane wreck down on the black sand near Vik? I was trying to look it up but don't know if it has a name.
Exactly. How are you Annie? I miss you, and was just taling about you tonight with new boss..."...I didn't want to live in Reykjavik as I wasn't trendy enough...and then there was this wild, down to earth, friend I met... she would drag me out clubbing... and we had some FUN. and when she talked about film directors and famous people and I didn't have a clue... she didn't mind! Here's to red heads the world over ;)
I'm having a tough time deciding which is my favourite - they're all ones I'd hang on a wall. The giraffe one is stunning though. Well chosen post title - there is something very end of days about them.
I hope that your heart is healing Annie. Break up's are hard. Especially when you're not ready for it. I guess no one really ever is. Good luck in America. I am sure you will be breath of fresh air for them over there.... After all there is only one Annie Atkins.
Hurrah! I've always wanted a giraffe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous and haunting montage. I like how the only touches of color are in your (?) skin and hair.
ReplyDeleteNice pullover btw ;-)
That is fucking amazing. Just for the record etc.

... you've gone up to another level, haunting...
ReplyDeleteI want to see the movie that this is the trailer for...

ReplyDeleteI was just going to ask if the second one was Iceland but I see you already confirmed that. It's desolate but beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHey Annie. Thanks for the Blogtastica link. Well chuffed!
ReplyDeleteThat flickr set is stunning. The Giraffe's are wowsers!
what a striking Irish ghost that is in Iceland.
ReplyDeleteEnd of the world?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you know that we don't?
Should I start packing?
EW
Wow! Incredible shots. You're stunning.
ReplyDeleteThat's some really fantastic photo taking.
ReplyDeleteGood to see ya the other day, looking forward to more ghostly related conversations soon.
Always hoped there'd be giraffes at the end.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant photos....
I love the one of you taken, presumably, in the south. Myrdalssandur?
ReplyDeleteI have haunting dreams of that place. It gets my imagination going like nothing else..
Thanks everybody. Except Anonymous who is clearly bonkers.

Hello there! Ack, you make me sound so cool. Actually "going out" and stuff. Except for the talking-about-famous-people bit — not cool at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm good, thanks, still in Ireland, though planning a trip back next month. You still in Norway? If you have anew boss then what is your new job?!
Ginger power xxx

ReplyDeleteGreat stuff, as always :)

ReplyDeleteWhich one of us do you mean? Me (EW) or the other anonymouses who post here?
Still waiting on an ETA on the Apocalypse.

'All I can say' is if 'the end of the world' looks like you in that jumper in that haunting photo - well, 'BRING IT ON'.
ReplyDeleteI like it very much. I've been looking through your works. Congratulations Annie!
ReplyDeleteI always picture the end of the world being something like Restaurant at the end of the Universe or that one Dr. Who episode.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant photos, Annie. Absolutely stunning, especially that one of you.

ReplyDeleteI found your page by accident, and could not go gently on with my life. Fantastic images and words!
