Bjarni came home from the hospital with a camera today. Did I say hospital? I meant 'work'. But he may as well have brought it home from the hospital the way he gently handed it to me so I could have a go cradling it in my arms. It's a Canon HV30 and it's just beautiful.
However. Apparently I'm not allowed to touch it again until I've read the manual. God. Bjarni loves that kind of crap, learning how things work etc. I'd rather switch it to the automatic setting and go. I mean, that's what we'd be doing with it if it was a real baby. Right?

ooh! very nice! Now you need a great baby, er, camera sling to that you can carry it wherever you go.
ReplyDeletesorry, me no speak too good.
ReplyDeletemeant to say:
SO you can carry it wherever you go.
must go take cotton balls out of mouth
You are funny. I like you.
ReplyDeletehow much does it weigh?
ReplyDeleteand what did you name it???
(at least this one won't poop.)
Is it a boy or a girl?
ReplyDeleteWe'll be expecting an increase in your film output, of course. And I'd like to be invited to one of your premieres as I have the perfect tux for the event.
I'm actually too embarrassed to tell you what we named it. It's too, um, cute. And this whole "couple speak affectionately of inanimate object as if it is their first born child" thing is just too much, I realise that. But it's all part of the nesting ritual.
ReplyDeleteBut it weighs next to nothing! It's incredible.
My course tutor is doing all he can to lift the copyright ban on my first film, btw. So maybe I will actually be able to show it to you all sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteIs it a camera or a camcorder? I'm a stickler for these things.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, I hope it wasn't a difficult labor.
Have you got it a cradle yet, or legs?
ReplyDeleteI guess it's a "camcorder" but I hate that word so I'm going to call it a "camera", which is also what it is.
ReplyDeleteI already have legs, I mean, a tripod that will fit it.
One: I want one.
ReplyDeleteTwo: I want one especially since my shit camera is broken.
Three: I want one.
The HV30 is actually quite a marvel of engineering! I shot a little bit with it's little brother, the HV20, and was constantly amazed by the picture quality..
ReplyDeleteWhat's reeeaally going to change your life is getting something like this: http://cinevate.com
I use this with my Sony PMW-EX1 and it's nothing short of revolutionary..
Ohhh, I want one! Thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteI was actually part of the first beta group for this thing like two years ago, so I'm a bit biased! But that doesn't change it's awsomeness! 35mm lenses with 35mm depth of field and 35mm Field of View on a camera like the HV30...can't make these things up!
