A boy trapped in a book

The Weekend Picture
I'm not trying to turn this into a photo-blog, I swear, but this is a shot I took on the set of the film we finished last night — the second and last professional-standard film we'll be making on this course.

The film is about a boy trapped inside a book, and I was on the design team this time round, which I loved. It meant I got to design sets, pick out costumes, and lift lots and lots of very heavy furniture. Normal service will resume as soon as I've had a hot bath.

  4. A book about cinema. In this chapter he's stuck in the silent movie chapter, but every time he goes through one of the doors behind him he enters a new genre, like a western or film noir.

Morgan wrote and directed it, and me, Joel and Liam did the production design. The main actor, Shane, was great:

"Look as though you're trapped in a book"

    "Okay then"

  5. Please tell me he doesn't get trapped in a Romantic Comedy chapter. For his sake.

  6. What's with the funny looking hat, Miss costume picker.

  7. What clever direction! "Look as though your trapped in a book."

Did they use your set ideas with the silhouettes?

  8. Great pic. Looks like he tried to read Joyce and ended up with indigestion!

Pippa found the hat, it's a sleeping hat, obviously. And yes, we used the sillhouettes. I think it worked, but we really have to wait for the tapes to see for sure.

  10. A sleeping hat? Is that how you avoid bedhead...just give yourself hathead instead? Great shot of the poor literarily incarcerated child.
