What an excellent shot. irony indeed!
ReplyDeleteWell the message is getting through - We've more water now than ever.
ReplyDeleteApparently East Surrey Water is telling customers to boil drinking water, after some water got into the water supply, or something.
ReplyDeleteWhen the water level gets lower, is there another sign saying: "Now we really mean it!!!!"?
ReplyDeleteJust add plums and sugar?
ReplyDeleteNow, about sending some of this moisture to Australia...
ReplyDeleteAnnie! I am awake!
What brilliant weather! So exciting. In Australia it was boooring approximately 356 days of sun, bright clear skies all the fekking time. This is great (for the time being)...
Yeah, great, welcome to Ireland! I'm going to see a band tomorrow night if you're awake enough for it.
ReplyDeleteThe water level is not going to get lower. I hope it just keeps rising and rising til it covers that stupid sign up. I'm supposed to be going to a festival next weekend. IN A FLOATY DRESS.
must be totally submerged by now
ReplyDeleteThe Liffey's tidal there so it's probably completely covered at high tide.
ReplyDeleteBelow the reservoirs about as much water leaks from the Dublin supply system as is kept in the pipes.
Any day now they'll claim the system needs multi-millions to be repaired and that charges will have to be introduced to cover the cost. And, hey presto! it will then make sense to privatise the city's water supply.
Just be thankful we're not living near the river Severn. No food, no water, no power. And the government saying, nothing we can do, folks, it's an act of God. Better get on to the Archbishop of Canterbury, then.
ReplyDeleteTo get back to the pic, another brilliant example of taxpayers' money being used to state the bleedin' obvious - or the bleedin' irrelevant. The best are those illuminated signs promoting energy-saving.
Great photo! Although one can't help but wonder if it is really healthy for that - presumably plastic coated - sign to actually be in the water.
ReplyDeleteThe reflection that you caught is gorgeous. I'm guessing people at least grumble at the command.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, what band are you seeing? And tomorrow being Tuesday?
ReplyDeleteI think I will start venturing out of Ranelagh next week sometime. I have a translation to complete and study some if I can before first assignment is due.
I installed Office and WoW on my MacBook today so exciting!
I will call you soon.
Oh ya, sorry rambling about other stuff. I think the picture you took is brilliant. Maybe you could send it to Irish Times I think. "Photo by Annie Rhiannon A"
ReplyDeleteIt's Alabama 3 but I've changed my mind I think, as I'm having "dental work" done and will have a numb mouth.
ReplyDeleteOh darn, ok, well let me know when dental work will be "done" and I will call you right after! (good luck, hope it will be relatively painless)
ReplyDeleteBleah--I'm headed over there in a few weeks. Looks like I'll have to spend a lot of time indoors. In pubs. Drinking.
ReplyDeleteShucks...
(I'll be meeting up with some Dublin bloggers if you're interested, Annie.)
Don't worry Brian, the sun came out today, it was beautiful! And yes, I'm up for a blonky meet-up, definitely.
ReplyDeleteI just went to see a Noel Coward play at The Gate, it was really good – I recommend you see it if it's still on when you're here.
Cool--I'll be in Dublin the 13th and 14th of August, and probably the 20th as well. I'll let you know more once I get closer to the dates.
ReplyDeleteWhy the quotes around "dental work"? Is it a euphemism for something else that will leave you with a numb mouth?
ReplyDeleteI'm just not entirely sure what it involves. It's something that happens to other people.
