I've just re-designed LC's blog template to test my web-design skills. Our brain-storming meeting went like this:
Me: What's your favourite colour?
LC: Er... I dunno. I'm a bloke, I'm not good with colours. Maybe a kind of dark-burnt-orange-type-thing, I suppose.
Me: What's your favourite thing?
LC: Monkeys. Definitely monkeys.
See what happened here.
If you're sick of your generic blogger template and want a completely original header and a personalised feel to your site, then let me know. I'll do another for free, but then I need to be a dot com millionaire so I'll have to start charging.

Well if it's for free...
ReplyDeleteyou couldn't get rid of that lighthouse thingy and put the Red Dragon sort of spread over the background?
Beijos
Excellent design Annie.
ReplyDeleteWhen you become a rich and famous web designer I can sell the story of how you designed the header to my blog. Hang on, would I owe you money if I did that. Ok, forget I said anything.
Annie such a generous offer right after I announced I need change? What can I say: pick me! If you're serious that is...
ReplyDeleteIf I could be persuaded as to why a dedicated URL is the way forward, then obviously I'm gonna need a design to go with it. If you can explain to me why the solo run is a better idea than the oul blogspot or wordpress, and you get the work, Annie.
ReplyDeleteBecause I keep asking Bock and Flirty and people who've done so, but none of them tell me why, they just smirk knowingly.
And I ain't a cheapskate. I'd pay if it wasn't silly money.
Oh oh oh, pick me, pick me!!! I want one with glaciers and penguins because I've never seen them down here. Lot's of blues and blacks. You could also put aurora on there, that would be cool.
ReplyDelete@JC - Simple. Complete freedom to do what you want in terms of design, layout, widgets etc. (Unless the chosen host has some restrictions).
ReplyDeleteAnnie - I'm grand for the mo with my look and feel. I could sub out a wee bit of logo/banner design work to you in the next few months if you're not too busy with your studies.
I'm working on Nina's next because she's my IRLF but after that I can do some others for a small fee.
ReplyDeleteJC, it just means you have more control. I think templates are fine, they're very convenient, but as soon as you see something that's been designed especially with your own blog in mind it'd be hard not to take it. Blogs are such personal things, and if you're posting on a regular basis then the small fee for the design work is worth it.
Neal, I would love to do a South-Poley one, we can come to some arrangement.
Alan I could make you a great template with no bloody lighthouse in it whatsoever.
I won't be charging too much for them, just making it worth my while as it takes about one evening of work to make the look and then a little time to implement it.
Primal, your FAQ questions are hilarious! And yes I'd love some banner work. I'm gonna need all the work I can get once I'm back in school, I'll email you.
Custom.
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks Annie:)
ReplyDeletei love what you did with LC's pad.
ReplyDeleteany chance if I send you an image that you can replace the bright green banner and wagon-wheel icon on my page with it? and maybe put the Mental Excrement font in something more medieval? Otherwise I'm pretty happy with my template, but i've been trying to replace that banner for months. how much do you want to charge?
I'm not sure about changing little bits here and there in templates, I would rather do the whole thing. New headers/fonts/images are unlikely to look that great with colour-palettes etc that were designed for another style entirely. A medieval font, for example, on a lime-green background, isn't necessarily going to work.
ReplyDeleteI can, however, already picture a "Chaucer's Bitch" style in my head that wouldn't be that far removed from the template you're working with now. Why not let me show you a sketch and if you like it you can buy it, if not, no worries? Same goes for everybody.
I'm going to start with a lower price for my blonkchums. If I get some business from other people later on I'll put prices up.
I'll email details to those of you who have shown interest.
Check your multitalented CV thingy. I feel rather inadequate.
ReplyDeleteI just guilt-tripped an ex into doing mine. Probably more expensive, ultimately. and it means that when I think of other changes I'd like, or different things I think would help, I don't ask because I'm embarrassed to... There's a business here Ms Rhiannon, definitely! I shall keep you in mind.
Hello, it is your Truculent Horse. I seem to have been neglecting the internet lately. You on the other hand ...!
ReplyDeleteI miss you Internet Girl!
Oops - just realised how rude I was yesterday (today? - time difference confusion) by reading, following the link, enjoying your design, and saying nothing.
ReplyDeleteNicely Done!
Looking forward to the mail, Annie.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, I would love to be a paying customer if you could do the design for My Ireland Adventure :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a brilliant weekend away, will miss you at the party tomorrow.
Me too, really sorry I can't make it. We'll talk about your blonk next week.
ReplyDeleteOoh, it's beautiful. And frankly, does LC really deserve it?
ReplyDeleteMe too! Email me please!

ReplyDelete1st day of almost proper rain for 2 months... In Akureyri. Guiding. Dry rivers in the south. Random snowstorms in the highlands. Almost died in a lightening strike 3 weeks ago. What's happening??!!
ReplyDeleteSorry this is nought to do with your blog. Brain on random setting. Kelso's brain all over the shop. You know how i am at this time of year. I'll blonk soon i promise...x
Hey where've you got to, Annie? Nothing wrong, I hope. Or are you just slaving away over all those website requests?
ReplyDeleteHello everybody. I've been spending some time "outdoors" the past week and am knackered. Will blonk again soon.
