Talking to Oprah about her adoption of Malawian baby David Banda, Madonna said her children Lourdes and Rocco hadn't questioned the arrival of the new family member.
"They've never once said, 'What is he doing here,' or mentioned the difference in his skin colour, or questioned his presence in our life," remarked the pop star.
What she didn't mention was the confusion his ridiculous name had caused them. Hopefully she'll be changing it from "David" to something slightly more ordinary before too long.

Silly Madonna.
ReplyDeletenow that you mention it, i understand better of what the fuss was all about.
ReplyDeleteMadonna is a bit of twat.
ReplyDeletePoor little baby David.
Madonna is the most overrated thing since the Beatles.
ReplyDeleteWash your mouth out!
ReplyDeleteCan it Ringo
ReplyDeleteHi, Did you hear/see any of the Oprah footage? The audience applauding Mrs Ritchie was un-fucking-believeable! Wanted to flush my ears afterwards!
ReplyDeleteGreat blog!
ps do you blog in Welsh?
Hi Conan Drumm. No, thankfully I missed the footage, just read this online.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for blog comp. You have a great name.
No, I don't blog in Welsh. I only have a handful of Welsh readers. I think. Unless Plaid Cymru are secret fans.
Family from Galway eh? We might be related.
ReplyDeleteBut probably not.
Forgive the oft-asked question, but is it true that pints are a fiver in your neck of the woods?
Half my Irish family are hippies and the other half are police officers. Are we related?
ReplyDeleteWell, a pint here is 500 or 600 kronur, which is about 5 euro I think, is it? But a pint in Ireland is 5 euro too, surely? But at least in Reykjavik you don't have to pay to get into any of the bars so it makes for a cheaper night out in the end, I reckon.
LOL, I guess those names might sound odd to a Welsh chickie.. but they are uber common in NYC!
ReplyDeleteI went to school with at least 20 Lola's (Lourdes) and probably 5 or 6 Roccos.
I've never met a Madonna though.. but she can't help what her parents named her!
Guy's the only name that stands out for me.. but I've also known (and even dated) a few of them.
The last one was quite yummy. ;)
BTW - I posted a pic of RR in 2005. The link I posted right after you posted went wrong somehow, so click on the one I re-did a few posts later.
Excellent blog.
ReplyDeleteHippies you say? Well, my sister's names are Starshine and Cosmicriver, so you never know.
ReplyDeleteI don't think pints have quite reached the €5 mark back home yet. I live in Scotland now, and you can get a pint in Glasgow city centre for £2.50 - £3.00, which is just under €4.50. But yeah, getting into clubs/late pubs is where you get shafted.
But anyway, I had a look through your archives, and you're a bit of a funny fecker, aren't you? Very good indeed.
I was in college with a Madonna actually, and a LaToya. They were best friends.
ReplyDeleteWell, I don't know what I'm grumbling about anyway, I've always wanted to call my first born "Tuesday" after Tuesday Weld. But in Iceland you have to give 'em Icelandic names. So she'll just have to go through life being called Þriðjudagur.
Thank you Dylan, and Kav.
Madonna should just give up. Just stop and go home.
ReplyDeleteNice to see you've started up again, funny fecker. Hope the writing isn't suffering too much.
Sorry Annie, I just posted a slightly sarcastic response to your response to my Beatles post. But I get it now.
ReplyDeleteIf Madonna went home, she'd have to decide whether or not to let Guy out of the box in the basement.
lol :)
ReplyDeleteIt's okay Tim, I rather like it when you're sarcastic.
ReplyDeleteLora! Hello. I cannot see or hear your name without getting a certain Scissor Sisters song stuck in my head. And no, I'm not talking about "Take Your Mama Out".
madonna isnt over-rated.. i think of her more as a shrewd business woman rather than a pop star...
