I ♥ Iceland

Reason #367 for living here, despite the crap winter daylight hours:
You can get gravlax sauce in a squeezy bottle.

  1. I'm not familiar with that myself being a Welshman in London but I must confess I, too, eat sardines from the can on occasion. It is often met with disdain but I feel it best to add some ketchup.

  2. What in the hell is "gravlax sauce"? Something Icelandic?

  3. Gravlax is raw, thinly sliced, cured salmon seasoned with dill.

Back in the UK, the sauce is something you'd usually only be able to pick up from the delicatessen counter at Harrods.

    Here it's like ketchup.

  4. I've been getting a little bit queasy these days when I eat sardines from the can. It's the texture of their tails, I think, and that very subtle but definite crunch of the bones turns my stomach slightly.

    Hope I'm not pregnant.

Ugh! For ages I have battled bravely with my innate disgust and fear of sardines. But last time I tried to eat one it sortof flopped open and its little backbone fell out (I suppose the tin would contain it better). I almost threw up. I must be pregnant ALL the time. Or perhaps it's just that sardines are not part of the natural diet of little horses.
